For the 2026/27 funding round (Year 1), applications were open to constituted community groups, charities, community councils, development trusts and other community-based organisations in Orkney. This round is now closed.

The Year 1 round focused on community-led projects. As the programme develops, other organisation types and wider funding opportunities may be considered in future rounds. Please keep an eye on Orkney Fund updates and announcements for details of future eligibility.

For the 2026/27 funding round (Year 1), a defined funding stream has been allocated for open applications. Applicants may apply for funding in line with the minimum and maximum levels set out in the current guidance.

These thresholds may be revised in future funding rounds. In addition to the open application process, the Board is also exploring larger strategic projects and schemes, which may involve higher levels of funding. Please check the current guidance and Orkney Fund updates for the latest information on each funding round.

The application process is usually completed in stages, beginning with an initial Expression of Interest, followed by a formal application process, assessment, and Board decision-making.

Timescales will vary depending on the funding round, but applicants should allow several months from initial enquiry to final decision. In some cases, the full process may take up to around six months. We will always aim to keep applicants informed of key deadlines and decision points throughout.
